Hope in the Brokenness: A Mini Devotional

This world is broken.

That fact is so painfully true. That fact describes the people living on the streets, those suffering, sinning, hating, crying, breaking, all because sin entered the world.

Sometimes that makes you wonder: what was life like before this world was broken? Will it ever be healed again?

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Genesis 1:31 | NIV |

God originally created this world perfectly. And God saw that it was good. That phrase pulses through Genesis 1, repeating over and over to give a point: The world was good.

There was no brokenness; no suffering; no sin; no hate; no tears; no pain. There was no night, there was no sickness. The world was whole, and God walked side-by-side with man.

But then came the fall. Sin entered the world, and God no longer dwelled with man because He cannot be around sin. And that perfect world was gone.

For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.

1 John 2:16 | NIV |

But then Jesus came.

When Jesus sacrificed everything, took the form of an imperfect human, and died on the cross to take the punishment of our sins, we could finally enter Heaven. Someday we will be with God again. Someday we will belong to a perfect world.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 | NIV |

In Revelations 21, the Bible talks about the new Heaven and the new Earth being like a new Eden. A perfect, amazing world where God dwells with the people and everyone is happy.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:4 | NIV |

So in your pain, in this broken world, know that there is hope. Someday the world will be made new.

Dear God, please help me to have hope. Help me to know that you are always there for me. I can’t wait for when the world is made new and when I will see You someday in Heaven. I know You are coming back someday. In the meantime, help me to do all I can to help make this world a better place. I love you, God, and I know you love me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed today’s devotional. Look at me being on time and actually posting this on Wednesday, haha. This topic is really important to me, and I believe that everyone needs a reminder that everything is going to be okay and that there is hope in this broken world.

On Saturday, guest post submissions will be open, so keep an eye out for that! Bye guys!

I encourage all of you to take the challenge! I would absolutely love it if you shared this post with anyone you think would like to do this challenge, so that way we can spread the word! Have a fantastic day, and don’t forget to hold the door! (Day 1’s challenge :P)

Are you excited for the day when we will get to meet Jesus (and each other!) in Heaven? Can you wait for the day when Jesus is coming? Did you like this devotional?

A Reminder

Worries.

Everyone hates them. Seriously, who likes to feel like their stomach is inside-out? Like their heart is going to burst out of their chest? Like nothing will ever feel safe again?

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

God offers to take away this feeling – like we discussed in the last post, God takes our burdens away from us. He offers us His Peace!

This was a very quick, short, (so short, I’m not even sure it qualifies as a mini-devotional!) but hopefully meaningful reminder post about just how much God loves and cares for you. You matter so much to Him – you’re His child, after all!

“And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty. (2 Corinthians 6:8)

Jesus: Coming Soon

Do you believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that Jesus is coming back soon?

I know I do.

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

– Matthew 24:26

My friend recently told me of a theology theory: When Israel signs a treaty, that’s a sign that God is coming back. Satan will try to deceive us by pretending to be a miracle worker but really causing havoc among the world. Then, God will come back, and take us to Heaven. We will fight against Satan, and we will win. Good will triumph over evil.

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

I’m not completely sure of this theory. It might be a false one, or a just a misunderstanding.

“Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

–  Revelation 22:12-13
But I am completely sure of one thing.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

 – John 14:3

Jesus is coming back.

And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates.

-Matthew 24:31-33

Prepare your hearts for His return. Spread His love across the universe. Learn kindness, compassion, honesty. Live by the Ten Commandments. But the most important of these is spreading His Love.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

-Revelation 1:8

Prepare your hearts.

Spread His Word.

Obey His commands.

He’s coming soon.

A Light in the Darkness

Have you ever just felt like no one loves you?

First of all, that’s not true. John 3:16 says:

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

But sometimes, it can definitely feel like you are alone. Those times of grief, loss, depression, anxiety, those times are dark times. Think of a dark room: without light, you stumble, you trip, you fall. Without light, you can never get out of the dark room. But no one is alone.
