All Your Heart: A Devotional

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and all your strength.”

Luke 10:27

One of my pet peeves is when kids at church or school worship with less than half their heart. They snicker when the movements get crazy and limply wave their hands, caring only about being ‘cool’ to their peers.

These kids forget that when they worship, they are worshipping God! Whenever I see this type of kid, I want to ask them, “Is that all you’ve got for Jesus?”

I care about what other people think of me, but not to the extent where the quality of glory I give Jesus suffers! I want to worship God with my whole heart – not just slightly waving arms and mumbling voices.

I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and will glorify Your name forever.

Psalms 9:1

Sometimes, you might not know the words, and that’s okay! Sometimes, you might not know the dances, and that’s okay! Maybe you’re even hurt and can’t move as fully as you’d like. This is all okay!

What matters is that you give your very best to Jesus! If anyone ever makes fun of you for worshipping, (which I doubt would happen), just comeback with what David said in 2 Samuel 6:21-22:

I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified than this.

2 Samuel 6:21-22

BOOM.

What are your thoughts on worship? Do you believe that you need to worship God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength?

  1. Amen, sister! I agree. My mother and sister and I were just talking about the difference between praise and worship. I agree with what my Mom said: you shouldn’t listen to worship music while cooking/cleaning/or while you are absent minded because then it just becomes something you listen to, and won’t mean anything. I believe, (this is me), that praise music you can listen to since it’s happier and more about you and HIM and not just HIM, but I agree with my Mother as far as the worship music goes. Great post!
