Forgive, But Don’t Forget

So, I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a lot of hate in my heart lately. Against who? Various people – some even my best friends. Why? Because, even if I’ve forgiven them already, I go back on what they did and I feel angry again.

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Forgive and forget.” That’s not true. No, you shouldn’t hold grudges against others, but you shouldn’t forget their sin. Why? Because the point of forgiveness is acknowledging what they did and loving them anyways.

Be aware of their trespasses against you. At fieat, this may lead your thoughts to how wrong they were, but instead think of the kind things they’ve done to you – if you can’t find any, look harder

Nothing hurts harder than insincere forgiveness. After they apologized, start loving them instead of grudging them. Here’s a list of things you shouldn’t do when or after another person apologizes:

  • Remind them of more things to apologize for. Listen, they’ve already put down their pride to say sorry for what went wrong in the first place – don’t push.
  • Going over every detail of what they did wrong with them. They already know that they sinned – by doing that, you’re just supporting pride.
  • Talk against them later. You already said that you forgive them – if later you turn your words on them, you’re little better than a traitor.
  • Have pity-parties. Okay, so it’s  kind of fun to go ever how you’ve been wronged and sympathize with yourself. But  really feeding Satan.

What if you apologize but that person doesn’t forgive you? There’s a simple answer – forgive that person for not forgiving you. 😉

Thank You for reading today – may God bless you!
