A Light in the Darkness

Have you ever just felt like no one loves you?

First of all, that’s not true. John 3:16 says:

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

But sometimes, it can definitely feel like you are alone. Those times of grief, loss, depression, anxiety, those times are dark times. Think of a dark room: without light, you stumble, you trip, you fall. Without light, you can never get out of the dark room. But no one is alone.

Some of you might be thinking, “So is this a tribute to Thomas Edison or something?”

No. This is not a tribute to the inventor of the lightbulb.

This is a post talking about Jesus, Light of the World.

Why is He the Light of the world, you ask? I’ve got some verses straight from Scripture to support my statement.

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies

-2 Corinthians 4:6-10 ESV

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

-John 5-10 ESV

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
-Psalms 119:105
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
-Psalms 27:1
5 O house of Jacob,
come, let us walk
in the light of the Lord.
-Isaiah 2:5
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
-John 8:12
So the next time you feel alone, unloved, and/or afraid, use these verses to back up your beliefs and kick the devil out of your brain. The enemy will do anything to try to deceive you into thinking you are all alone but remember: You’ve got the advantage. God is on your side!
