Sorry this is a little late!! This week’s verse is Zachariah 9:9.
9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
What does this verse mean? It is telling of Jesus, when He rode in to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, on His way to being Crucified. The reason I wasn’t able to post yesterday was I had Worship Night at Church. At worship night, the pastor talked about how a ‘cup’ is mentioned multiple times in Scripture. When Jesus was praying in the garden just before Judas betrayed Him, He prayed, “O Lord, take this Cup from me.” This cup was the cup of God’s wrath on all sinners – a cup full of blindness, sadness, deafness, deathly sickness, worry, fear, and death. As Jesus was crucified, God poured his cup of wrath out on His own Son – it took hours for every last drop to fall. And once the cup was drained empty, Jesus declared:
“It is finished!”
But because Jesus drank the cup of wrath for us, we now get to drink from a different cup – a much, much different cup. A cup filled with peace, healthiness, happiness, hope, love, and eternal life with God.
The pastor also said this prayer:
“O, Lord, we are not worthy. We have never been worthy, we will never be worthy. But You drank the cup of wrath, drank every last drop, so we could live with You. There is no way any of us in this room could ever, ever thank You enough for what You have done for us. There is no way our minds can ever wrap around Your Great Love. I pray that we will always be faithful to You and remember the true meaning of Easter and Palm Sunday. Amen.
I hope this post was helpful to you. I am praying for all of you!! Have a GREAT Easter!
